Observation is the single most important element of photography. It doesn’t matter what camera gear you’re using, if you’re not ‘seeing’ the image the end result will never amount to anything special. For myself, ‘looking’ has become an obsession and I see everything in compositional terms, analysing relationships with colour and shape. I recently decided to buy a small portable fixed lens camera to keep with me all of the time, although more than often an iPhone is more than capable of producing technically good images.
